   Abstract = {In this paper we derive algebraic conditions that are both necessary and sufficient for a pair of stable third order linear time-invariant (LIT) systems to have a common quadratic Lyapunov function (CQLF). We also show how these results can be extended to derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a CQLF for pairs of LTI systems of arbitrary order.},
