A Message from the Committee Chair

\end{center}

Welcome to the 2nd Hydrogen \& Fuel Cell conference 2012. This conference provides an oppor-
tunity to learn about the latest advances in fuel cell research, development and application.
The conference featured an exhibition showcasing the latest in fuel cell and hydrogen energy
technology, and included keynote speakers, technical presentations, networking receptions.
Next year we held second conference forum for researchers and developers alike to share new
ndings, as well as successes and failures, within the fuel cell community. The Seminar, founded
in 2009 by Energy Ministry, has grown along with the industry in terms of the numbers of par-
ticipants; the numbers of demonstrations of fuel cells; and the state-of-the-art of the technology.
Through our second HFC Conference showcases the importance of fuel cells in the development
of energy strategies that reduce or eliminate greenhouse gas.
The 2nd Hydrogen \& Fuel Cell Conference is designed for manufacturers of fuel cells and fuel
cell components, utility staff and decision makers, the fuel cell research community, the business
and investment community, educators and students with the goals to (1) exchange information,
experiences, and insights from research to application, (2) provide a forum for discussion on
advances in science and technology, (3) identify barriers to accelerate the technology develop-
ment, and (4) further stimulate research activity in this emerging eld of fuel cell systems and
components for stationary, mobile and portable power generation applications.
The 2012 technical program will feature eleven tracks that cover all aspects of Hydrogen \& fuel
cell R\&D, applications, and commercialization.

Topic presented will be:
\begin{enumerate}
\item Hydrogen Production
\item Advanced Materials and Technologies
\item Energy Storage
\item Design, Production and Development
\item System Integration
\item Modeling and Simulation
\item Stationary Applications
\item Mobile Applications
\item Safety, Regulations and Standardization
\item Policy Making
\item Innovation, documentation, patents \& Commercializing Perspectives
\end{enumerate}
Attendees will also continue to enjoy several of the educational opportunities for which the
Seminar \& Exposition has become known, including technical poster presentations and short
courses. Prizes will be awarded to papers and posters exhibited at this year's Fuel Cell Seminar.
Networking is one of the essential missions of the 2nd HFC. Meet with and get to know the rest
of the fuel cell community during our Welcome and Industry Receptions.Researchers (universities, national laboratories, and industrial and non-prot research insti-
tutes), technologists, users, manufacturers, designers, regulators, contractors, energy compa-
nies, utilities, and third-party providers are invited to submit abstracts. Papers from industrial
authors are encouraged and welcomed.
Selected Manuscripts will be considered for archival publication in the one of Journal of Fuel
Cell Science and Technology, in addition to presentation and publication in the conference pro-
ceedings. Reviewers will identify those papers that should be considered for Journal publication.
On behalf of the HFC conference, Technical Program and scientic Committees, we look forward
to your participation in the 2012 Fuel Cell Seminar \& Exposition!

\closing{Sincerely yours,}
